Cocktails at Bemelmans, a stunning Art Deco bar with a distinctive New York vibe

A historical and high-class hotel, The Carlyle has hosted many important guests.  One of the most unique, however, was artist Ludwig Bemelmans, who is famous for his “Madeline” childrens books, and works in The New Yorker, and Vogue.  Refusing payment for his artwork, Bemelmans created murals within the hotel in exchange for accommodations for he and his family.  Today, his works remain as the only Bemelmans murals on public display, currently in the cocktail lounge that bears his name.  Read More
